Celebrity Update the 15 year old Dakota Fanning is set to play in New Moon as the evil vampire Jane. She as a member of the Volturi(a clan of vampires) will be having a special power. New Moon has of now has released 2 trailers for their movie who is scheduled to be in theater this November. Right now they are setting up for the Eclipse the 3rd book of the Twilight Saga. Dakota Fanning is having a busy schedule ahead of her, but it has been rumored that she is the leading candidate in the sequel of The Wizard of Oz. A follow-up to the classic 1939 movie that shot Judy Garland to fame.

The film’s producer, Basil Iwanyk, says, “It will be set in the present day and feature Dorothy’s granddaughter.”Meanwhile, co-producer Todd McFarlane adds, “You’ve still got Dorothy trapped in an odd place, but she’s much closer to the Ripley character from Alien than a helpless singing girl.”This would be darker and more action packed.

The classic original already has one sequel – the 1985 film, Return to Oz, was based on Baum’s novels Ozma of Oz and The Marvelous Land of Oz.

The popular film was brilliantly adapted from L. Frank Baum’s venerated children’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (written in 1899 and published in 1900) by three credited writers Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson, and E.A. Woolf, and a team of many uncredited scriptwriters (including Arthur Freed, Herman Mankiewicz, Sid Silvers, and Ogden Nash). Langley insisted that the fantastical characters have real-life counterparts to make them more believable, as they had also existed in the 1925 silent film version.

Now 70 years after its release in August 1939, with the world in a grip of recession and British troops mounting casualties in Afghanistan, A Wizard of of sequel is finally planned.
