robert de niro Celebrity Update Robert De Niro is said to play legendary coach Vince Lombardi in the feature film Lombardi being developed by ESPN Films, Andell Entertainment and the NFL.

movie looking at his transformation of the Green Bay Packers from the National Football League’s worst team to five-time NFL champions in the 1960s.

“We’re thrilled to have Robert De Niro on our team,” said Charles Coplin, NFL vice president of programming. “There are few actors who could accurately portray the fire, passion and grit of Lombardi.”

The legendary coach died in 1970 at age 57. The film about Lombardi is expected to be released just before the 2012 Super Bowl.

It will be directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Lee Eisenberg & Gene Stupnitsky, the film is produced by Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller and begins production later this month.

The comedy stars Diaz as a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher who, after being dumped by her boyfriend, sets her sights on a colleague (Lucy Punch) who is dating the school’s model teacher (Timberlake). Jason Segel also stars as the school’s gym teacher while John Michael Higgins will play the principal. Molly Shannon and Eric Stonestreet also star. Jake Kasdan will direct from a script by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.

The Hollywood Reporter says McShane will play the legendary pirate–whose real name was Edward Teach–who piloted the ship Queen Anne’s Revenge.

McShane will join Johnny Depp, reprising his role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and Penelope Cruz, Sparrow’s foil and equal in many ways, in a story that revolves around the Fountain of Youth.

And Mark Strong is going to be a brilliant Sinestro” and according to his second, “Kilowog, the Guardians, Oa…all breathtaking. The age of Green Lantern is upon us!!”

Strong joins Ryan Reynolds, Tim Robbins, Blake Lively, and Peter Sarsgaard in the Martin Campbell-directed Green Lantern, which is scheduled to be released in theaters June 17, 2011.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating actor Andrew Koenig, who had a recurring role on the 1980s sitcom “Growing Pains.”
Koenig, 41, lives in Venice, Calif., but at one time lived in Vancouver. He is the son of Walter Koenig, who played Chekov on the “Star Trek” television series and movies.

Vancouver police say Koenig was visiting friends in West Vancouver when he went missing. He was last seen on Feb. 14.

A statement released by the police department says Koenig “has recently been despondent and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being.”

The 88 year old American actress, comedian and former television host with a career spanning over sixty-five years is almost close to host the show for the first time.

White would not be hosting alone. Rather, I hear SNL is putting together a “Women of Comedy” episode that would team the former Rose Nylund with several of her younger contemporaries. Ex-SNL MVP Molly Shannon is on board, I hear, and feelers have also been put out to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. (An NBC spokesperson insists no one has been confirmed at this time.)

Her television roles include Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls.

White has won six Emmy Awards and received 18 Emmy nominations over the course of her career, and was the first woman to ever receive an Emmy for game show hosting.

The 45 year old American film director and producer is also best known for The Bourne Identity (2002), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) and Jumper (2008).

Doug Liman will also produce Attica with David Bartis under their Hypnotic company along with Elliot Abbott (Awakenings, A League of Their Own), who is financing the development. Avrum Ludwig also will produce.

The film purports to explore the bloodiest prison confrontation in U.S. history and the firestorm of controversy that followed the 4-day standoff.
