Celebrity Update Leonardo DiCaprio is confirmed to be teaming up with the legendary Clint Eastwood for a biopic on the life of J Edgar Hoover. Back in March, a bunch of news came out about a biopic of founding FBI director J. Edgar Hoover. Milk’s Dustin Lance Black wrote the script, and it was at Universal before the studio passed. The film ended up at Warner Bros. and Malpaso Productions, with Clint Eastwood set to direct. There was a rumor that Leonardo DiCaprio was poised to star as Hoover, and that casting is now confirmed.

J. Edgar Hoover was the first director of the FBI. His life story is quite interesting including unconfirmed reports that he was a homosexual and cross-dresser. Appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation—predecessor to the FBI—in 1924, he was instrumental in founding the FBI in 1935, where he remained director until his death in 1972. Hoover is credited with building the FBI into a large and efficient crime-fighting agency, and with instituting a number of modern innovations to police technology, such as a centralized fingerprint file and forensic laboratories.

Late in life, and after his death, Hoover became an increasingly controversial figure. Not just in his sexual orientation questions but also being accused of exceeding jurisdiction of the FBI many times.

Celebrity Update Micheal Fassbender has been confirmed that he will be playing Magneto in X-Men First Class. According to EW, the rumors regarding Michael Fassbender’s involvement with the film were true! The actor WILL play the role of Eric Lensherr (Magneto) opposite James McAvoy’s Professor Charles Xavier.

“I’m pretty comfortable with this decision. I prefer seeing Fassbender as Magneto playing against/alongside McAvoy’s Charles Xavier. I like both as actors; so I’m pretty excited about this setup.”

Celebrity Update Benjamin Walker is has joined the First Class cast as Dr. Hank McCoy, better known as the blue, furry Beast. He would be joining James McAvoy, who will play Charles Xavier, and possibly Michael Fassbender, who is in negotiations for the role of Erik Lensherr (AKA Magneto).

Those unfamiliar with the comics may not know that despite being big and blue in The Last Stand, Beast (aka Dr. Hank McCoy) originally looked human and his mutant ability has always been strength and agility coupled with a scientific genius. It wasn’t until an unfortunate medical experiment that his physical appearance was permanently transformed.

Celebrity Update Russel Crowe is attached to star in the feature film adaptation of The Equalizer. Crowe would play the enigmatic title character Robert McCall, portrayed on the 1985-89 CBS television series by the late Edward Woodward.

McCall’s past was shrouded in mystery, but it was known that he’d once been a secret agent for an unnamed intelligence organization and had an estranged adult son. In an attempt to redeem himself for his dark past, he offered his services for free to those in need of help in the form of a newspaper classified ad that read: “Got A Problem? Odds Against You? Call The Equalizer.” He also drove a sweet black Jaguar XJ6 Series III.

Celebrity Update Amber Heard could be landing for the part of Mystique, the blue-skinned shapeshifter previously played by Rebecca Romjin.

Pike was previously rumored to play Emma Frost after being spotted with comics of the character outside the offices of the film’s casting agent. The MacTaggert character was played by Olivia Williams in “X-Men: The Last Stand.”

Celebrity Update Gemma Ward will join the cast of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and will be playing as a mermaid alongside other actress. Gemma Ward will be joining Johnny Depp and fellow Aussie Geoffrey Rush in Rob Marshall’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is currently shooting in Hawaii.

There’s no details on Ward’s character but it was said that the role is “a small speaking part.”

The model/actress had previously starred in 2008 horror film The Strangers and The Black Balloon and in 2001 Pink Pyjamas.

Celebrity Update Catherine Zeta-Jones added a royal honor to Hollywood stardom Saturday when she was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. The Academy Award winner is part of an eclectic list of honorees, announced to mark the queen’s official birthday, that includes the founder of the Jimmy Choo footwear label and 1960s rocker Graham Nash.

“I am absolutely thrilled with this honor,” Zeta-Jones said in a statement. “As a British subject, I feel incredibly proud. At the same time, it is overwhelming and humbling. And my mum and dad are delighted beyond belief.”

Celebrity Update Angelina Jolie is set to play Cleopatra in an upcoming biopic. Jolie has the skin tone and sharp angular looks to easily take the beating hearts of men just as the legendary Cleopatra did.

Film producer Scott Rudin bought the rights to Stacy Schiff’s new book Cleopatra: A Life. The resulting movie project “is being developed for and with Jolie.”

Celebrity Update Rosamund Pike, the British actress who appeared most recently in Surrogates, may be playing Emma Frost, aka the White Queen in next summer’s X-Men: First Class, according to a story at Forces of Geek. ccording to the site, Pike has been spotted in the offices of X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn’s casting director and also seen carrying Emma Frost comic books.

According to Wikipedia, Emma Frost is “an urbane, mutant telepath with a well-noted dry wit initially known as the White Queen (complete with revealing white attire for which she is known), Frost has changed from one of the X-Men’s most dangerous foes to one of its most central members.” Tahyna Tozzi played a younger version of Frost in the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Celebrity Update Milla Jovovich has joined the cast of the upcoming Bad Luck Movie. Director David Ellis revealed to Moviehole that Milla Jovovich will star in his $30 million supernatural thriller Bad Luck. To be released in 3D, the film is about a group of skeptical college friends who find out the hard way when superstitions come between them and those they love. David Schow wrote the script.

Jovovich is close to wrapping Faces in the Crowd and can next be seen in theaters in Resident Evil: Afterlife.
