Stanley Tucci Celebrity Update Stanley Tucci The Oscar nominated actor is added in to the cast to star as Dr. Abraham Erskine in the studio’s highly anticipated movie Captain America: The First Avenger.
Marvel Studios announced the casting today.

In the early comics, Dr. Erskine was a German scientist behind Project Rebirth, the secret experiment that created the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

Captain America: The First Avenger comes to theaters July 22nd, 2011.

Neal McDonough Celebrity Update Neal McDonough to the list of cast for Captain America: The First Avenger, the Joe Johnston-directed film that will star Chris Evans. Neal is set to play as Dum Dum Dugan.

McDonough is no stranger to the Marvel Universe, having voiced the character of Dr. Bruce Banner in the 1996 “Incredible Hulk” cartoon series, but is best known for appearances in Minority Report, Star Trek: First Contact and as Dave Williams in the fifth season of “Desperate Housewives.”

Dugan was born in Boston, Massachusetts. During World War II, while working as a circus strongman, Dugan helps Nick Fury and Sam “Happy” Sawyer escape the Nazis during a mission recounted in issue 34. Dugan later joins the British Army, and when Sawyer is charged with creating Fury’s First Attack Squad, also known as the Howling Commandos, Sawyer invites Dugan to become second in command. His exceptional strength saves the day in several of his adventures in the Sgt. Fury comic books.

It was presumably a tough military authority figure, though. The real question is whether he could do both this movie and Men In Black III according to UGO.

Now, the report is still just a rumor, and even the rumor claims that Jones is simply “in negotiations” at the moment – but still, this is one of those rumors that you hope turns out true because it would be a nice layer of icing on the cake, so to speak.

hugo Celebrity Update Hugo Weaving as confirmed by Marvel Studios announces today that Australian star Hugo Weaving will be playing the nefarious Nazi The Red Skull in Joe Johnston’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Weaving and Johnston most recently worked together on Universal’s remake of The Wolfman.

Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe, where Steve Rogers volunteers for an experimental program that transforms him into the super soldier Captain America, in order to combat the Nazi threat during World War II. At the same time in the MU, Johann Schmidt was drafted into service by Hitler’s Third Reich and renamed “The Red Skull”, who promptly became Captain America’s nemesis.

Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige will produce CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel and Louis D’Esposito will executive produce. The film will be released in the US on July 22, 2011 and distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Sebastian was known in the CW hit movie Gossip Girl and now has signed on to do five or six movies.

During World War II, Bucky Barnes was a teenage orphan too young to join the army, instead brought to the battlefield as a mascot. There, he discovered Captain America’s true identity and convinced him to be his sidekick. He was subsequently killed while trying to defuse the exploding rocket that presumably also killed Captain America, but instead threw the war hero into the Arctic Circle where he was frozen for decades. Bucky was revived in recent years as The Winter Soldier, having been reprogrammed by the Soviets as an assassin.

With director Joe Johnston at the helm, The First Avenger: Captain America will begin filming in Europe over the summer for a scheduled release of July 22, 2011.

The 28-year-old actor, who played a superhero in the Fantastic Four series, would star in up to three Captain America movies plus The Avengers films and other Marvel projects.

Evans does have a scheduling conflict, however. He is committed to co-starring in the Anna Faris romantic comedy What’s Your Number?. Both are scheduled to shoot this summer.

Joe Johnston will direct The First Avenger: Captain America in England for a July 22, 2011 release.

Hugo Weaving in talks for his role in Captain America

hugo weaving Celebrity Update Hugo Weaving is in talks right now to play the villain Red Skull in Marvel Studios’ The First Avenger: Captain America.

According to the Heat Vision Blog, Weaving will be Rogers’ archenemy, saboteur and spy who worked as Hitler’s right-hand man. If the script is keeping to the Skull’s story, it’s likely he’ll battle the Cap during World War Two and may also end up in modern times thanks to his own stint in suspended animation.

The report says it’s not a locked deal yet, but it’s close and we’d imagine Johnson would be eager to work with Weaving again after the actor was one of the best things about The Wolfman.
