Celebrity Update Tila Tequila a 27 year old Singapore-born, American-singer model and television personality with the real name of Tila Nguyen has made some alarming call to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department around 3:45 AM on Sunday. She told deputies she had been choked by Shawne Merriman and, when she tried to leave, he physically restrained her. Shawne Merriman remains in custody at San Diego County Jail. As Tila Tequila signed a complaint him of battery and false imprisonment. Tequila’s rep declined to discuss her condition, but there was no sign of trouble hours earlier as the two partied at the local hot spot Stingaree.

According to a Club Rep: “Shawne Merriman and Tila Tequila arrived and joined a birthday celebration with friends already going on in the penthouse,”
“Merriman and Tequila stayed until closing in the early hours of Sunday morning. They seemed in good spirits throughout the evening and were enjoying themselves. There was no indication of any problem between the two of them.”

Merriman’s lawyer tells TMZ that his client is innocent, and that he was trying to keep an extremely inebriated” Tila from unsafely leaving the apartment.
San Diego Chargers General Manager Smith quickly issued a statement on Sunday that implied the Chargers will not take immediate disciplinary action against Merriman.
“It’s disappointing to hear about the issue involving Shawne Merriman,” Smith said in the statement. “We’ll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course.”
